REVIVING THE PEOPLE AND THE SPIRIT OF OLD CAMP CRUCIS
Do you recall Camp Crucis before the days of air conditioning and hot water? Then you are a Camp Crucis Old Timer, and we invite you to help us build this website and reconnect with other old timers via the web or in person. The first goal of this website was to locate lots of old timers and post lots of old photos, memorabilia, and recollections. The next goal is to build on those contacts and collect more memories and reconnect with more people.
OLD HOME MOVIES: If you have any old home movies of Crucis that you have converted to tapes or DVDs, please let us know and bring them.
WORK PROJECTS: We are also looking for ideas (large and small) for daytime work projects. We expect to have several different projects for different skill levels. Last fall we cleared fallen trees and reopened the path that leads around and behind the chapel, to the old picnic grounds and the forks of Stroud's Creek.
FINDING OLD TIMERS: We need your help in gathering the names and finding current contact info for campers and staff of Old Camp Crucis. We are loosely defining "Old Camp Crucis" as the camp prior to the construction of the modern buildings (mostly during the 1970's). THE FIRST THING YOU CAN DO IS TO EMAIL US (at joeriddell@aol.com, or call us, see Contact Us button at left) to LET US KNOW HOW BEST TO REACH YOU. To help more, look over the "Old Timers Roll" (click button at left) and the lists we have gathered (click "Memorabilia" button).
Please send us any lists of Old Timers you have (or just news of any individual), along with any updates to where these folks are. There is a separate list (see button) for Clergy and Permanent Staff. Of course, current email addresses are most convenient and sought-after, but any info you have to help locate long-lost friends will be appreciated and followed-up on.
REVIVING MEMORIES: We are looking for old photos and for old diaries, letters, etc., that describe the life and times of the camp. We also welcome any favorite recollections you may have. You might be surprised at what you have in one of those old dusty boxes in your attic or storage area -- please look and you may find something special to share. Scan it and email it to info@oldcrucis.com or joeriddell@aol.com or make a copy and mail it to the webmaster (see Contact Us button at left). These will be posted on this site and will later be added to an electronic archive of Camp Crucis.
